Our story

A Story of Hope and Action

Elong’o CBO was born from a simple yet powerful vision: a safe, caring and progressive community with economic opportunities for the youth and a thriving future for our community. It all began with the recognition of the challenges faced by girls in our community; limited access to education, harmful traditional practices, and a lack of opportunities to reach their full potential. The youth in the community also lacked economic empowerment despite majority of them having gone to school.

But we also saw immense potential, a wellspring of talent and resilience waiting to be unleashed. Driven by this belief, Elong’o CBO took its first steps. We started with clean-up exercises involving the CBO, members of the community, the local administration and school pupils. This laid the foundation for our work. Over time, our programs expanded, we initiated girls empowerment programs in schools and sanitary towels drive and this enabled us address a broader range of needs and engage more actively with the community.

Today, Elong’o CBO has become a vibrant hub for change. Our impactful programs empower girls, tackle critical issues, and promote environmental sustainability. We are a testament to the power of community action, where dedicated individuals came together to make a difference.
